Lived interoperability

Cuculus, PPC and Worldline will present the BSI Guidelines-compliant Smart Meter Gateway Administration at the E-world 2014 trade fair. In addition, PPC and OpenLimit will make their new Smart Meter Gateway available, Cuculus will showcase its ZONOS™ platform as an administration tool and Worldline will present the requisite security functions.

As a leading provider of broadband power line (BPL) systems and Smart Meter Gateways, PPC offers tried and tested solutions for the BSI-compliant rollout of metering systems. The new Smart Meter Gateways (SMGW) form the interface between end-customers, market participants, metering point operators and the distribution network operator. Together with partner OpenLimit, an IT specialist for secure data transfer, PPC is developing SMGWs in accordance with the standards of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), the PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt or Federal Physical and Technical Institute) and the FNN (the VDE’s Forum on Network Technology / Network Operation). The SMGW makes the requested data available to authorized parties only after authentication by the Smart Meter Administration, thereby ensuring the end-customers’ data is protected.

Cuculus GmbH is an IT specialist for software solutions in the area of smart metering and smart homes. At the E-world 2014 trade fair, a module for the ZONOS™ platform will be presented for the first time. The purpose of this module is to manage Smart Meter Gateways, meters and evaluation profiles in accordance with the BSI Standard and protect the data flows in line with the requirements in place.

René Boeringer, co-founder and managing director of Cuculus GmbH had this to say: “It’s obvious that the complex processes that exist between the Smart Meter Gateway, the Administrator and the different market participants can only succeed if a collaborative effort is made during the development stage to ensure compatibility and a common understanding. For this reason, we are particularly happy that, with PPC, we were able to entice the leading partner in the area of smart meter gateway and broadband power line technology to be able to jointly demonstrate a Smart Meter Gateway Administrator.”

“In order to provide our customers with tried and tested metering systems, it is important to check the functionality and interoperability as early as possible”, says Ingo Schönberg, CEO of Power Plus Communications AG. “At the E-world trade fair, guests can therefore view live demos with an innovative company like Calculus.”

At E-world 2014, you will find PPC and OpenLimit in Hall 2, Stand 2-424, while Cuculus can be found in Hall 4, Stand 4-122.
