FOKUS and OpenLimit agree on a premium partnership

Both parties aim for stronger collaboration in interoperaabilily laboratories and research projects
The Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS and OpenLimit SignCubes AG deepen their existing partnership. Yesterday, Prof. Dr. Radu Popescu-Zeletin, head of the institute and OpenLimits CEO Marc Gurov, signed the contract for the premium partnership at the interoperability laboratories of FOKUS in Berlin (eGovernment, Cloud/SOA, eIdentity, Open/Closed Source).

OpenLimit and Fraunhofer FOKUS have been cooperating already since the beginning of 2005 at the FOKUS eGovernment laboratory and are now going to intensify their collaboration within the eGovernment field with a view to promoting the topics interoperability and interaction, which are relevant for the end-to-end electronical handling of administrational processes within the government authorities as well between government and enterprises or citizens. The main focus of the cooperation is the development of open and standardized IT components. “We are looking forward to collaborating in national and international projects”, said Dirk Arendt, co-founder of the FOKUS e-government laboratory and now head of business development at OpenLimit. “Especially the intensive dialogue with all partners in the laboratories is very important to us”.

At the eGovernment laboratory, many OpenLimit technologies are going to be comprehensively tested and evaluated with respect to their interoperability, usability and service orientation. During the application test of the new eID card, researchers at the Fraunhofer FOKUS Institute were already able to successfully integrate the AusweisApp and the eID server into application scenarios around the new ID document.

„OpenLimit is a pacesetter in the development and implementation of as well as the compliance with various IT standards. An increased cooperation advances the lively exchange of information with public authorities, partners, and lobby groups, which continuously enters into the development of new technologies and products of OpenLimit”, explains Gerd Schürmann, head of the center of excellence Electronic Government and Applications at Fraunhofer FOKUS.
